The pizza industry is an over $30 Billlion per year industry, accounting for more than 10% of all foodservice sales. 94% of the population of the U.S. eats pizza and Americans eat approximately 100 acres of pizza EACH DAY, or about 350 slices per second. Consumers are looking for more and better options for dining out, and it’s reflected in the fact that while quick serve pizza numbers are flat, numbers for the casual dining pizza segment are growing. The consumer trend towards embracing healthier lifestyles has also fueled the interest in restaurants offering healthier menus using fresher, higher quality ingredients. The growth of fast-casual restaurant sales shows that consumers are willing to spend a little more for an upgraded customer experience.
